I own a website development company servicing a couple of hundred clients, many of whom are involved in photography, videography, or some other form of the visual arts. So when I started searching for a new web host one of my concerns was finding one with resources beefy enough to handle all of my media needs. Despite the fact that Rackspace is a little bit more expensive (and really folks, it's only a little) I've heard such good things about their support staff I decided to give them a shot.
I'm glad I did.
Right from the get go the sales staff and account managers were on top of things. They suggested a specific kind of configuration that would virtually guarantee uptime if my main server ever went down. Being that my needs are so media intensive I figured they knew what they were talking about and paid the extra money for it. Again, I'm glad I did. I had my main server go down but the backup kicked in just like it was supposed to and none of my sites were affected. They called me to tell me what was going on and, in under a half hour they had swapped out the damaged hardware with new stuff.
I've read other reviews complaining about some poor service when Rackspace had a power outage. I was also affected by that event but I receive so many apologies felt like I had to tell them to stop. They also credited my account for the downtime I experienced.
In a nutshell I am extremely pleased and very glad I switched to Rackspace. I always get the help I need from their support department, the people that answer their phones are always polite and friendly, and they treat me as though I'm the most important customer. I have used other web hosts in the past and have never been as pleased as I am with Rackspace. I would say if you're looking for a robust and reliable host with near 100% uptime, go with Rackspace.
